NOTED ACTRESS
MISS KATHERINE CORNELL* DOMINION TOUR PLANNED 5 • The prospects of a theatrical tour of Australia aud New Zealand by Miss Katherino Cornell, the noted American actress, were discussed yesterday by Mr. R. Henderson, Miss ConiollV. retv rosentative, who arrived at Auckland by the Mariposa to make a preliminary investigation. The visit will be part of a world tour, commencing about the middle of next year. • Miss Cornell's first outstanding success was gained in London, but that enabled her tb "gain honour in her own country" and since that time shehas acted under her own management and in her own theatre in New York. Mr. Henderson said yesterday that it was Miss Cornell's desire to make a world tour. She would be supported by her own company, the strength ol which would be between 30 and 40, and her plays would be produced exactly as they were staged in New York. Discussing Miss Cornell's possible repertoire. Mr. Henderson said the actress would probably revive "St. Joan" and "The Barretts of Wimpole Street," while she might also appear in Shaw's "Candida," which, he understood, had not been presented on the professional stage in Australia or New Zealand. There would also be two, recent plays by American playwrights.
