At present this area is served by a 50,000-volt transmission line, with sub-stations at Opotiki and Edgocumbo. Tho new line is part of an interconnecting schemo which will enable power from both Arapuni and Waikaremoana to bo utilised on tho general system by means of a transmission lino through tho TJrowora Country.
