f AMALGAMATION OPPOSED |by telegraph—OWN correspondent] OPOTIKI, Wednesday The three new members, Messrs. M. Citmming (insurance nominee), J. W. Gordon (Government nominee), and G. S. Moody (Bdrough Council nominee), were welcomed by the chairman at the quarterly meeting of the Opotiki Fire Board.- The board decided to write to Messrs. J. B. Gov,-, C. H. W.fatt and S. Shalfoon expressing appreciation of their services 011 the board. The board unanimously decided to oppose amalgamation of local bodies, and Messrs. P.-J. Short, G. S. Moody and J. W. Gordon were appointed to represent the board at the conference of local bodifs to be held shortly in .Opotiki.
