A committee to investigate (he hest method of improving the extremely wet nature of the main playing field at the Hamilton High School was set up at to-day's meeting of the hoard ol

governors. The aeting-hcadmaster, Mr. 11. D. Tait, stated thai at present the ground was of 110 use to the school and that owing to its sodden state the bojs had been forbidden to use it. In consequence they were encroaching 011 the girls' playing space. The field had been formed where there was originally a minor lagoon and the ground had settled unevenly. There were drains underneath it, but they were too far below the surface to be of any use. The ground would have to be attended to sooner or later.
