BOROUGH REVALUATION
FEW CAMBRIDGE OBJECTIONS [from OUR OWN correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Saturday That the ratepayers in Cambridge arc fairly satisfied with the recent revaluation of tho borough was evidenced by the small number of objections heard at a sitting of the Assessment Court yesterday. The objections raised were not of a' serious nature. In four cases reductions were granted and in two cases tlu valuation was tsistaine.d. There were 10 other applications, five of which were struck out owing to nonappearance.
Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., presided and associated with him were Mr. C. •I. Potts (Government assessor) and Mr. A. de L. Willis (borough assessor). Mr. \V A. Gordon, district valuer, represented the Valuer-General and opposed the objections. Before commencing,' Mr. Hewitt stated that objectors could place their cases before the Assessment Court or they could offer for sale their properties at any price not lower than existing mortgages. In the latter case, the properties might he tnken for the Crown at the figure stated, or arrangements made for a sale. Jf not sold, the ValuerGeneral would reduce the value of the properties to tho amounts offered. Five property owners elected this course. All objections were to the unimproved value, on which borough rates are levied
