Mr. W. Goodfellow left for Wellington by the limited express last evening. Mr. G. W. Hutchison loft by the Mariposa last night for Suva on a short holiday. Mr. J. T. Reid has been elected a representative of St. Peter's Cathedral district on the Waikato Diocesan Synod. Mr. W. J. Lyon, M.P. for Waitamata. was a passenger for Frankton by the limited express from Wellington yesterday morning. Mr. R. Henderson, assistant manager of the Sydney Morning Herald, arrived by the Mariposa from Sydney yesterday on a visit to New Zealand. Mr. M. J. Moodabe, governing director of Amalgamatedyfheatres, Limited returned from Wellington by the limited express yesterday morning. Flying-Officer C. W. K. Nicholls, Royal Air Force, formerly of Auckland, has been posted as instructor to No. 4 Flying Training Squadron, Abu Seuir, Egypt. Captain J. R. Patrick, managingdirector of J. Patrick and Company, shipowners, of Sydney, and .Mrs. Patrick, will leave for Sydney bv the Aorangi. to-morrow. Mr. R. L. Grant, general manager in New Zealand for British Empire Films, arrived by the limited express from Wellington yesterday morning. He is at the Grand Hotel. Mr. C. K. Winston, accountant for the Texas Oil Company in Sydney, was a through passenger for Los Angeles by the Mariposa yesterday. He is aeccmpanied by Mrs. Winston. Mr. C. P. Sellards, of the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Company, Sydnev, was a through passenger for Los Angeles by the Mariposa yesterday. He is accompanied by Mrs. Sellards. Mr. F. Goldberg, governing director of the Goldberg Advertising Agency, arrived in Auckland yesterday and is at the Grand Hotel. He wil leave, for Sydney by the Aorangi to-uorrow. Sir James Parr, who has taken a house at Richmond, London, Avill stay for six months in England, states the London correspondent of the Hebald. He will investigate activities of interest to New Zealand. L'r. T. Z. Koo. the well-known Christian student leader, arrived from the sou;;h by traiu yesterday at the conclusion of his New Zealand tour and left by the Mariposa for San Francisco last night. Lieutenant-Commander B. E. W. Logan has been appointed to the cruiser Leander and lent to the New Zealand Division of the Royal Xa<7 for three years, states the London correspondent of the Heeald. Mr. .J. M. Connell, a director of the Distillers' Company, Limited, London, arrived at Auckland by the Mariposa from Sydney yesterday on his way to England after a visit to Australia. He is accompanied by Mrs. Connell. Mr. J. H. Bryant, of Sydney, arrived at Auckland by the Mariposa, yesterday on his way to attend the annual meeting of the American Dairy Science Association in Nebraska this month and the World's Dairy Congress in Berlin iii August. _ • v i ;i. Mr. E. G. Martin, managing-direc-tor for New Zealand of the Atlantic Union Oil Company,. Limited, and Mrs. Martin, returned to Auckland yester- a day by the Mariposa from Sydney after a short visit to Australia. They are at the Grand Hotel. The Rt. Rev. W. H. Baddeley, Bishop of Melanesia, arrived at Auckland by the Mariposa from Sydney yesterday to rejoin the mission 1 vessel Southern Cross. Bishop Baddeley has been making a short visit to Australia on mission business. Mr. L. de Gielgud, Under-Secretary-General of the League of Red Cross Societies in Paris, will arrive in New Zealand about the middle of September. Mr. de Gielgud, who is at present doing Red Cross organisation work in Japan, will make a complete tour of the Dominion, and will hold public meetings in the larger cities.
