CROQUET ASSOCIATION
DAY ON AVONDALE LAWNS The closing; day nf the season of the Western Suburbs Croquet Association was held on the Avondale lawils last week. Invitations were accepted by Mesdames McGill, Webber, J. Clarke, Robertson, Keesing, Finch, Garrard, Povlev and Keatley. all members of the Auckland executive. Progressive croquet was phu<?d, the winners being: A: Mesdames Exler, Archibald and Wilson. B: Mesdames Jackson, T. Walker and Green. Mrs. Wright, president of the association welcomed Mrs. Keesing on her leturn home and presented her with a posy from a New Lynn garden. Mrs. McGill congratulated the members of the association on the success of their tournament and later presented the trophies won in the handicap pairs tournament as follows: Senior grade: Mesdames Storey and Wi Ison, winners; Mesdames Ellis and Crookbain, runners-up. Junior grade: Mesdames Ramsay and Green, winners; Mesdames Phillips and Betts, runnerstip. Gloves were presented to Mrs. Robertson from the senior grade players and to Mrs. Bennett from the juniors in appreciation of their work in supervising the play 011 the Hally-burton-Johnstone and Avondale lawns.
