mostly fair to fine rain developing soon The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, were as follows :—An anti-cyclone is crossing the Dominion to-day, but a rather intense depression covers the western and southern portions of tbe Tasman Sea. The forecast is for variable winds at first over the northern half of the North Island, otherwise northerlies prevailing, light to moderate generally, but later becoming strong about and south of Cook Strait, and backing to southwesterly during to-morrow in the far south. Seas mode-rate to rather rough south of Bokitika and later rising generally south of Cape Egmont and also about Cook and Vovcaux Straits : elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Northerly winds light to moderate in the northern portions, with slight to moderate seas, becoming strong, with rough seas in the southern nortion. The weather is likely to be fair to fine in most districts, but rain developing soon in South Westland and the far south, and unsettled conditions and rain extending to most areas with a westerly aspect within tho next 21 |to JJG hours.
