HOUSEHOLD REMOVALS BY RAIL. 72 PER CENT FOR PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS. SERVICE APPRECIATED Jn a review of the household removals service of the Railways Department the General Manager, Mr. G. 11. Mackley, mentions that anions a number of letters of appreciation receiver! a prominent Church organisation, for which the Railways Department recently effected 18 individual household removals to and from various parts of tho Dominion, wrote to him only a week ago as follows: — "It is with pleasure I inform you 'that I have received many expressions of appreciation of the splendid manner in which tho removals have been effected by your staff, which have fully justified my recommendation to my committee that tho work should bo entrusted to your Department." This organisation has also indicated its intention of using the Department's services for at least double the number of removals in tho coining year. •That these services are more largely availed of by private individuals than by Government Departments is exemplified by the fact that, for tho year ended March 31, 31(37, actually 72 per cent of the household removals effected by the' Railways Department during that period were done for private individuals as the result of business ■won in open competition on the basis of price and quality of service.
