EFFICIENCY OF BRAKES
DASHBOARD INDICATOR A facia hoard indicator which gives visible warning to the driver of the .state of efficiency of his brakes has recently made its appearance in Australia. The little device, which contains three windows, is first set while the car is on level ground. Whenever the car brakes are fully applied centrifugal force thereafter tells the tale of braking effectiveness. A red indicator appearing in the window is a warning that brakes are dangerously ineffective for an emergency. That colour indicates 30 per cent efficiency. Amber (50 per cent) indicates good brakes, and green (60 per cent efficiency), very good brakes. Tell-tale shutters may be reset after every test by pulling down a small lever.
