WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS
FOOTBALL COMPETITIONS RUGBY, LEAGUE AND SOCCER Two undefeated teams, Manukau and Grafton, will meet at Eden Park this afternoon in the m;yn attraction of the Auckland Rugby Union's sixth series of matches in the senior championship competition. The match is expected to provide a fast and spectacular exhibition. The curtain-raiser will be between Marist and Grammar Old Boys, two teams which are noted for their open and attractive play. Two of the outstanding teams in the competition, North Shore and Mount Albert, will meet at Carlaw Park this afternoon, when the fifth series of matches in the Auckland Rugby League's senior championship will be decided. Both teams have powerful forward divisions and possession in the scrums is likely to be the deciding factor. Manukau and City will provide the curtain-raiser.
Several fine attractions have been arranged for to-day by the Auckland Football Association in the first series of matches in the second round of the first division championship. The principal contest at Blandford Park will be between Abels and Ponsonby. The fourth series of games in the first round of the Davis Cup competition will be played under the control of the Auckland Hockey Association. The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle- Club will continue its winter competitions on the Outer Domain, while the various harrier clubs will stage runs. Club bowling, golf and cycling competitions will be carried forward a further stage, while a Sports Day, arranged by the Mayor of Mount Albert in aid of the King George V. National Memorial Fund, will be hold at Fowkls Park, where senior League and Soccer matches will be played. In the evening a professional heavyweight wrestling contest will be held in the Town Hall between Hal Rumberg and Sammy Stein.
