OVER 2000 GUESTS SCENE IN PALACE BRILLIANT ASSEMBLAGE THEIR MAJESTIES PRESENT By Telegraph—-Press Association—Copyright (Received May 27, r».5 p.m.) LONDON, May 26 The King, in Iho full-dress uniform of the Cameron Highlanders, and the Queen in a gown of gold brocade, were host and hostess at Buckingham Palace to more than 2000 guests this evening at the second State ball of their reign. Their Majesties entered the ballroom at 10 p.m. Thirty-one members of the Royal Family were present, also 17 foreign Royal personages. Queen Mary, who was celebrating her 70th birthday, had the place of honour next to Their Majesties on the dais.
QUEEN MARY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED EMPIRE PREMIERS' VISIT LONDON. May 26 Fin go were 11 own on mastheads over Government offices and public buildings to-day in celebration of Queen Mary's birthday. Her Mi jest y received the Prime Ministers of the Dominions, who conveyed to her birthday wishes from their respective countries.
KING AND QUEEN CORONATION SERVICE SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE LONDON. May 26 The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Cosmo Gordon Lang, speaking in the Upper House of tho Convocation of Canterbury, expressed thankfulness for the unimpeded celebration of the Coronation. It had eclipsed all its predecessors in the realisation that Their Majesties had deeply felt the spiritual significance of the service, with which the whole of the people had been associated to an unprecedented extent. The Archbishop road the King's reply to the Convocation's loyal message, in* which he said he would always support the work of the Church, whoso prayers would sustain him.
