WESTFIELI) QUOTATIONS DAIRY VALUES FIRM KEEN DEMAND FOR STORES Both stores and dairy cattle were in demand at the Wcstficld weekly stock sale yesterday, when, largo yardings wore forward. The yarding of stores was exceptionally large, one firm offering and disposing of four rows of pens, and prices showed a firming tendency in some lines. The demand for boner cattle continues to be very firm and has been sustained at a high level of values for a lengthy period. Competition for potter bulls and aged cattle suitable for freezing works remains keen. Potter bulls realised up to £B. In the dairy section the top values showed an improvement, the best realisation being £9 10s for a fine typo of Shorthorn cow. The average values were also good and most of the cows in milk or close to profit sold readily at prices ranging from £6 10s to £8 15s. PUKEKOHE VALUES [fkojj our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Thursday A large yarding of dairy cattle came forward to-day at the weekly stock sale at Pukekohe, conducted by Alfred Buckland and Sons, Limited. All good sorts close to profit met a keen demand, but aged, backward and unsound cows were dull of sale. Prices generally showed a slight improvement on last sale. The yarding of beef and store cattle was of average proportions, with Tio extra heavy beef included. A keen demand prevailed throughout and prices were on a par with late rates. The entry of pigs was smaller than at recent sales. The demand for fats was steady and fully late quotations were obtained. Stores and weaners were in better demand and prices showed an improvement on late rates. RANGIFURI CATTLE VALUES The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports as follows on its Rangiriri stock sale:—The yarding was an exceptionally large one. Beef cattle were yarded in representative numbers, but in the fat section unfinished Jerseys and store and boner cows comprised the bulk. The advertised in-calf run cows came forward and they were in fair order. As well, a few pens of store steers and approximately SO head of dairy cattle were entered, there being in addition a number of pens of mixed cattle, principally yearlings and bulls. The range of rates for store and fat cattle did not vary greatly from the present Frankton standard of values, and all changed hands readily. The Shorthorn, Polled Angus and Hereford in-calf run cows drew good bidding from buyers and practically the lot was sold at comparatively high prices. The quality of the dairy offering was mainly mediocre, and although no outstanding prices were secured, the geheral level was most satisfactory for the class and few remained unsold. Several pens of in-calf heifers sold well. MATAMATA QUOTATIONS Tlie Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports that at its Matamata stock sale a full yarding of all classes came forward. Sheep were penned in good numbers. Fats remained unchanged, while a good demand existed for stores, the advertised line of East Coast ewes selling at 275. Cattle: An exceptionally heavy yarding, mostly cull cows, ex dairy herds. Competition was again keen, with a full bench of export buyers operating. A few pens of quality beef cows sold firmly. Pigs: A smaller yarding of fats and a full entry of stores and weaners were in keen demand and sold at considerably advanced rates. TE MAWHAI CLEARING SALE The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports having held a clearing sale on account of Mrs. I. Gage, of Te Mawhai, when her complete herd of -'0 Jersey dairy cows came forward in good condition and was submitted to a good attendance of buyers. Competition generally was firm, the best early calvers selling from £S to £S>; other early calvers, £7 10s to i'S 10s; later calvers, £-1 to £(>; Jersey yearling heifers, £4 4s. The advertised line of 20 Jersey two-year heifers on account of Mr. Geo. Ramsay, of Te Mawhai, was offered. Competition for well-grown early calvers was brisk, the best selling from £7 10s to £'S, with other early calvers from £'i> los to £7.

OFFERING OF CLOUDLANDS HERD [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday A complete unreserved dispersal sale of Cloudlands Jerseys, offered by the farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, on behalf of Mr. J. I?. Harper, of Otorohanga, will be held on the farm. Cloudlands, -River Road, Otorohanga, on Tuesday, June 1. The offering will include 104 wellbred pedigree Jersey bulls, cows, and heifers of various ages, -JO high-grade in-calf Jersey heifers and 23 pedigree Tamworth pigs. When Mr. Harper held his last sale 14 years ago, his hulls realised up to 120 guineas, while for one cow 130 guineas was paid. The herd has a splendid record for butter-fat production and for its splendid sires.

JERSEY HERD DISPERSAL [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TE AROHA, Thursday Tho Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, -reports having held a dispersal sale on behalf of Mr. L. J. Warren at Te Aroha West. The herd, which camo forward in good condition, was offered before a good attendance of buyers. Early calvers showing quality evoked good inquiry, while later calvers also met with a ready sale. Prices were on a par with recent clearing sale rates.
