SOCIAL PROBLEM

ATTITUDE OF METHODISTS A meeting of Methodist ministers from the city and suburbs was held recently to discuss the evil of abortion in New Zealand. A resolution was passed that the ministers regarded as morally wrong any limitation of families that was prompted by selfishness or by callous refusal to accept the responsibilities of parenthood. The meeting expressed unhesitating approval of the investigation undertaken by the committee set up by the Government, as far as that investigation was carried, and urged the appointment of a Royal Commission to consider all matters arising from that committee's report. A copy of the resolution has been sent to the acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser.
