RECKLESS DRIVING

MOTOR-CYCLIST FINED A sequel to a chase along the Great North Road in which a traffic officer and a motor-cyclist were involved was heard in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, when Kenneth Morris Coleman pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless driving. Allan Edward Hodgson, the traffic officer, said he saw the defendant riding his motor-cycle without a tail light along the Great North Road. Ho passed the Stone Jug at 00 miles an hour and when witness sounded his siren the defendant increased his speed and eventually crashed on to the footpath. He was not injured. Defendant said the throttle of his machine jammed and ho could not stop. "X must make an example of you young chaps," said Mr. C. R. Orr\Valkcr, S.M., in imposing a fine of £5 and cancelling the defendant's licence. He would also be prohibited from obtaining another licence for three months.
