YACHT SOUBRETTE

ARRIVAL AT SUVA BAD WEATHER ENCOUNTERED The 45ft. ketch-rigged auxiliary yacht Soubrette, built by Mr. P. Vos, of Auckland, which left Auckland on April 22 on a cruise to Brisbane, by way of Lord Howe Island, is reported to have arrived at Suva yesterday. The Soubrette is owned by Mr. C-. MillsPalmer, who is acting as master. He is accompanied by Messrs. J. W. Grinson and G. C. Seale, of Auckland, and Mr. J. E. Moore, of Russell. It was the intention of Mr. MillsPalmer to go to Lord Howe Island, stay about a week there, and then proceed to the Queensland coast. After reaching Brisbane it was intended to go to the Great Barrier Reef, visiting various islands. Mr. Mills-Palmer expected the voyage to last about three months.

A westerly gale was encountered after the yacht left Auckland and it is reported that she sheltered at Whangarei Heads for several days. With continuous westerly winds blowing it is evident that Mr. Mills-Palmer decided to sail to Suva', before making for Lord Howe Island. It is likely that the yacht may now proceed direct to the Queensland coast.
