INCREASED POWER

KING'S WHARF STATION ASSISTANCE FOR ARAPUNI The King's Wharf power station, which is to be operated until next month to relieve the load on Arapuni during peak periods, was placed in commission for the first time last evening between 4.30 and 6.30. Only one machine of the 14 King's Wharf units, operating at 15,000 kilowatts, was used. The King's Wharf station will be called upon to assist only in the early evenings when the load reaches its maximum. It will probably be operating each day during the week, as the Coronation celebrations will impose an exceptional demand for power for the many illuminations in the city. The plant is being run under instructions from the Public Works Department.
