MAINLY FAIR TO CLOUDY SHOWERS LIKELY IN PARTS Ac weather report and forecast for j Xew Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, were as follows: —Though relatively low over the Cook Strait area to-day, pressure has been fairly high over the New Zealand area generally. Ail anti-cyclone covers Eastern Australia, while a shallow depression is advancing across the South Tasman Sea. The forecast is for light to moderate variable souther]ies predominating at first, later turning temporarily to northerly about and south of Cook Strait. Seas slight to moder- • ate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate variable winds, northerlies to westerlies predominating in the southern portion; seas slight to moderate. Scattered showers or misty rain probable at first in eastern areas and about Cook Strait, later also in western and far. southern districts of the South Island; otherwise the weather is likely to 1)8 fair to cloudy, with rather mild temperatures. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST , MAINLY FAIR TO FINE The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province:--Light and variable winds, with southerlies predominating. The weather is likely to be mainly fair to fine, with rather mikl temperatures. Seas slight to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland.—Perfect conditions prevailed in Auckland early yesterday morning, but with no wind it became overcast and there were several heavy showers before mid-day. Light rain fell during the afternoon and there were variable light winds from the 1 south-west. The barometer, which was steady during the day, commenced to | rise fate last night. !
