salute' AND FEU-f)E-JOIE

Auckland will cerebrate the Corona-

tion of Their Majesties King George VI. and Queen Elizabeth to-day with full civic, naval and military ceremony befitting a rare occasion of the highest significance, to the Empire. The observances will coincide with the principal New Zealand ceremony, to be held this morning at the steps of Par- — lianicnt House, Wellington. This is to be attended by llio Governor-General, Viscount Galway, the acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Eraser, Ministers of the Crown, members of Parliament, and representatives of local bodies. The New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, the New Zealand Military Forces, the Poyal New Zealand Air Force, and ex-servicemen of all the fighting services will be represented in a parade which is to precede the Auckland civic ceremony in the open space outside the Town Hall at 11 a.m. Order of Parade The parade, which it is hoped will be fully 3000 strong, will leave Quay Street punctually at, 10.15. The band of H.M.S. Achilles will lead a detachment of three officers and 100 men of the Poyal Navy, including one officer and 40 men of , the Poyal Marines. Next will come IS officers and approximately 168 men of the Poyal Naval Volunteer Peserve. Included in tho parade will be three officers and CO men of the Poyal New Zealand Artillery, and 32 of all ranks of ' the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The ■ territorial units, which it is hoped will muster about 1000 of all ranks, will include the New Zealand Artillery. Engineers, Corps of Signals, Ist Battalion of the Auckland Regiment, Medical Corps and Army Service Corps. Tho Artillery Band and the Band of the Auckland Regiment will head their respective units. Address by the Mayor A very large muster of ex-servicemen is expected, including veterans of the South African War. Former army nurses, members of the various Avomen's auxiliary corps and Frontiersmen will also be in the parade. "Unfortunately secondary and technical school cadets /will not participate, owing to restrictions necessary as a measure against infantile paralysis. On the arrival of tho parade at the Town Hall, a general salute will be accorded to Pear-Admiral the Hon. E. P. Drummond, commanding tho New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy. When the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, takes his place on the platform in front of the building, a fanfare of trumpets will be sounded from the tower. A short address will be delivered by the Mayor, expressing New Zealand's loyalty to the Throne, and it is probable that the Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Mines, who is to represent the Govern- , ment at the ceremony, will also speak. Another fanfare will be followed by the Royal Salute, during which the lioyal Standard will be broken out from the tower flagstaff. A l'eu-de-joie will then be fired by the Royal Marines and tho. Royal New Zealand Artillery. This is to include the firing of 14 guns from Albert Park. Representative Gathering Rear-Admiral.Drummond will call for three cheers for the King and Queen, the Royal Salute will be given again as the standard is lowered, and the parade will return to Quay Street, where it Mill be dismissed. On the platform with the Mayor and the Hon. P. C. Webb will be the Mayoress, Lady Davis, J'ear-Admiral Drummond, Lieut.-Colonel R. Miles, officer commanding the Northern Command, Mr. Justice Callan, Mr. Justice Fair, members of both Houses of Parliament, and of tho City Council, . magistrates, foreign consuls, Mayors of suburban boroughs, and chairmen of metropolitan local authorities. Indications are for fine weather, but «in the unlikely event of the morning being very wet the parade will be cancelled and tho civic ceremony held in the Town Hall.
