RIFLE SHOOTING
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB final competition held The final competition of the season held by members of the Auckland City Defence Rifle Club consisted of a 15-shot match at the range of 900 yards. With the exception of ono light shower, weather conditions were good, although there was enough variation in the wind to break consecutive central shots with wide ones. Shooting last in a, failing light, A. W. Harris won a special trophy presented by Mr. W. Watson for the greatest number of consecutive bnllseyes with six. Four competitors each scored four. R. C. MATAMATA COMPETITION [by telegraph —own correspondent] j MATAMATA, Monday The Matamata Rifle Clnb held the second and final shoot on Saturday for trophies presented by Mr. 11. Bollett, sen. the ranges were 200 and 300 yards, and the winner was H. R. King, with a total score of 18!) points. The fallowing were the days results:—H. R. King, 48 at '2OO yards, 4o at 300 yards, total 03; F. Pilcher, 46, -lb 02; R. D. Reynolds, 47, 43—00; R. H. Rollett, 44, 45—80; R. De Luen, 33, 45—88; C. Landolls, 45, 43—88; G. Sutherland, 40, 43 —B3; 1. Mantle, 30, 40 —70. With handicaps adjusted the following were the net scores:—Pilcher, 07; King, 06; Deluen, 94A, Reynoids, 01; Rollett, 90/ i; Landels, 01, Sutherland, 88; Mantie. 87. The single-arm sling was again used. TAURANGA CLUB MATCH [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAURANGA, Monday Members of the Tauranga Rifle Club fired the concluding club match of the season last Saturday. Tho ranges were 200 yards and 300 yards, 10 shots at each distance. Following were the best scores off the rifle for the day:—R. Benjamin, 47. 44—91; H. P. Ward, 45, 45—00; E. L. Ward, 41, 43 87; S. feidois, 43, 43 —86; A. G. Scales, 44, 42—80; B. Johnston, 45, 41—86; Jj. H. Milano, 43, 40—83; W. Vint, 39, 41 —80. WHANGAREI CHAMPIONSHIP [by TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHANGAREI, Monday The Whangarei Defence Riflo Club completed the club championship during the week-end with a four range shoot over 200, 300, 500 and 600 yards. There was a rear fish-tali wind with heavy showers. D. E. Wilton won the championship, the Advocate Cup and the day's shoot. The following are the results:— _ Championship.—D. E.
