DRIVER TRYING OUT HIS CAR COURT IMPOSES £lO FINE [FROM ottr own correspondent] HAMILTON. Monday "I trailed defendant along the Main South Road from Horotiu to Ngaruawahia, and his speed reached 75 miles an hour," said Inspector W. Scott, in the Hamilton Police Court to-day, when prosecuting Norman Miller, amusement proprietor, for driving at a speed that might be dangerous to the public. Mr. King appealed to the Bench not to cancel defendant's licence, as his livelihood depended on the use of his car. Defendant was trying out his car on a straight stretch of road on which there was little or no traffic. The magistrate, Mr. 3; L. Paterson, imposed a fine of £lO, and ordered the endorsement of defendant's licence, the endorsement to bo effective until .May 31, 1938.
