SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS

MAINLY FAIR TO CLOUDy

The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government, meteorologist, were as follows: —Though pressure has risen over the Dominion, it is still rather, lou- to-day. over central districts. An anti-cvclone now extends from Eastern Australia on to the North Tasman Sea, while an indefinite and depression covers the South .Tasman Sea. The forecast is for south-westerly to southerly winds, strong in some exposed positions, but decreasing and otherwise moderate and changing temporarily to westerly or north-westerly in places about and south of Cook Strait, Seas rather rough to rough north of Farewell Spit and south of •East Cape, but decreasing; elsewhere .slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate south-westerly winds in the northern portion and westerlies prevailing in the southern portion and freshening somewhat; seas moderate. Some scattered showers are still probable, more especially in eastern districts, but the weather for the _ most part is likely to be fair to cioudv. Later, however, a renewal of unsettled conditions is probable in western areas from Taranaki southward arid the far south. Cold night with some sharp inland frosts, but temperatures somewhat milder to-morrow.

SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST FOR T6E MOST PART FAIR The Government meteorologist issued to the Herat J) last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Light to moderate southwesterly winds. A few isolated showers are probable, but the weather for the most part is likely to be fair. Temperatures cool to moderate. Seas rather rough to rough but decreasing on the west coast and slight to moderate on the east coast. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland.—Fine, clear weather prevailed in Auckland yesterday. There was a light south-westerly wind and conditions •were cool, although there was bright sunshine. The night was fine but hazy and there was fog in some of the outer suburbs. The barometer showed a rising tendency last night. Barometer, midnight, rising .. 30.00 in. Midnight, Sunday .. 29.70!n. Wellington.—The day was cool for the most part and overcast, with a moderate south-easterly breeze. The maximum temperature was 49.8deg. Christ-church.' —The day was overcast and threatening. A very light south-west wind was blowing. The maximum temperature was 46.5deg. The barometer registered 29.98 in. at 5 p.m. i Dunedin. —The morning was cold, but the sun shone throughout the day and the temperature rose to a maximum of 60deg.
