THE CHURCHES
SPECIAL SERVICES THANKSGIVING DEVOTIONS ASSEMBLIES AT SCHOOLS A special Coronation service will be held in St. Mary's Cathedral, Parnell, at 11 o'clock to-morrow morning. The form of service used will be that approved by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York for observance in England, and copies of it will be supplied to all members-of the congregation. The service will bo conducted by the primate, Archbishop Averill, who will give an outline of the main features of the Coronation Service held in Westminster Abbey. Seats have been reserved for members of public bodies, but ample provision has been made for the general public. There will also be a widespread observance of Coronation Day in other churches, and, although special Coronation services were held in many on Sunday, thanksgiving devotions have been arranged for to-morrow, and prayers will bo offered up for the welfare of Their Majesties.
Although, in view of the danger from the infantile paralysis outbreak, it has been thought advisable to prevent any massed congregation of children, assemblies will be held at the schools to-morrow morning, when appropriate addresses on the significance of the day will be given. The children will be dismissed after these brief ceremonies, and at a number of schools trees are to be planted to commemorate the event. The Government has arranged for the distribution to each school of a framed portrait of Their Majesties. North Shore residents who may find it inconvenient to visit the city for the Coronation celebrations will bo afforded the opportunity of attending a united service at the Gaiety Theatre, Takapuna, at 11 o'clock to-morrow morning. An address will be given by the Mayor, Mr. J. Guiniven, and others taking part will be the Rev. D. M. Cattanach, the Eev. H. Stewart, the Eev. E. S. Emmitt and the Ilev. R. Hills-John son. SUPPLIES OF BREAD NO DELIVERY TQ-MORROW No bread will be delivered to-mor-row so that bakers will be able to observe their Coronation Day holiday. Supplies of bread for use to-morrow will therefore have to be purchased to-day.
