/ AUCKLAND OBSERVANCE CEREMONY AT TOWN HALL PARADE THROUGH STREETS "~"T The Coronation of Their Majesties gj n g George VI. and Queen Elizabeth in Westminster Abbey will be celebrated throughout New Zealand tomorrow In Auckland the people's recognition of the importance and significance of the day, the first of its kind in 26 years, will be shown in a rariety of ways, in all of which, however, the note of thanksgiving will be predominant. The civic authorities, Government departments, local bodies, business houses, and the public have cooperated to make fitting preparations f or the proper observance of the occasion, and the culmination in the -city, suburbs, and everywhere else in the province promises to be tho most joyous event for many years. To-morrow has been declared a holiday for public servants by the Government. and, at the invitation of tho acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser, local bodies and many business firms and organisations have arranged a limilar observance. New Zealand Celebrates First - The main New Zealand ceremony will be the Government function at Parliament House. Similar in form to tho one being observed by the civic authorities in Auckland, it will be attended by the Governor-Getieral, Viscount Galway, the acting-Prime Minister, and the Mayor of Wellington, Mr T. C. A. ;; Hislop. In London New Zealand will be represented by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, the High Commissioner, Mr. W. J. Jordan, and a strong Parliamentary and civilian party. The ; New Zealand Coronation Contingent of 50 officers and soldiers trill help to make the Dominion well represented in the great parade and pageant to Westminster Abbey. In point of time, New Zealand will be 6ne of the first of the British countries to hold / public demonstrations in honour of the Coronation of Their Majesties. The civic ceremony in front of the Town Hall at 11 o'clock in the morning will be approximately 12 hours before the actual crowning of the King *nd Queen in Westminster Abbey. Representative Parade Military, and naval units of Auckland will combine in staging a ceremonial parade of considerable strength tomorrow morning. It promises to be among the most colourful and impressive features of the celebrations. Regular and volunteer members of the various defence forces will participate in the march through Queen Street to the Town Hall, and their ranks, totalling over 2000, will be largely swelled by- returned soldiers, ex-service women and armv nursing sisters, and a detachment of Legion of Frontiersmen. Their uniforms and colours will lend a fitting tone to the civic ceremony. Moving off from Queen's Wharf shortly after 10 o'clock, the parade will be headed by the Boyal Navy detachment, preceded by the Boyal Marines Band. The Boyal Marines and_ thp Auckland division of the lloyal Naval Volunteer Reserve, numbering 18 officers and 168 men, will follow. The band of the Ist Battalion of the Auckland Eegiment will lead detachments from the Boyal New Zealand Artillery of three officers and 60 other ranks, the Royal New Zealand Air Force of 3* men of all ranks, and the various terntorial "units, which total 87 officers and 1082 men. Nest will come one common unit of returned soldiers, who have previously paraded 4000 strong, the Legion 'of Frontiersmen and other bands.' . i ■ Spirit ol Enthusiasm A spirit of enthusiasm prevails among servicemen, past and present, to make the occasion a memorable one. The view is taken that such an event falls but once in a lifetime, and that honour attaches to participation in a parade of this sort. Schoolboy cadets will unfortunately play no part m til parade, owing to restrictions imposed as a precaution against infantile paralysis. No Ajr Fore© machines will be utilised in the celebrations When the parade has taken up position in Queen Street and ® rey Avenue, facing the Town Hall balcony, a general salute will be accorded upon the arrivals of Bear-Admiral the Hon. E R. Drummond, commodore commanding the New Zealand dmsum of tba Boyal Tsavy. A fanfare of J rU ,?~ pets will herald the advance of the Mayor. Mr. Ernest.Davis, and the official party on to the Town Hall ba cony. The band play half of the National Anthem, seven more guns will be fired, and Marines will repeat their volley m same manner. The band will then finish the National Anthem, seven more g ■will be fired, the Marines will give a third volley, and the band will complete the salute with tho whole or National Anthem. _ ... Cheers for the King and Queen will be called by Rear-Admiral Drummond, and the parade will again present arms in a Royal Salute as the Boyal Standard is lowered at the conclusion o the cerenionv. The parade will return t<i dismiss at, the point of assembly on Queen's Wharf. , At night the band of the Auckland Artillerv will march up Queen Street to the Town Ilall. where it will play 3 selection of patriotic airs at 7.45 0 clock.
