NEW ZEALAND MISSIONARY SON OF CHIEF RUNS AMOK SYDNEY. May 9

The tragic story behind the recent killing of the veteran New Zealand missionary Mr. William Veitch Milne at Nguna, in the New Hebrides, was told yesterday by Mr. 11. Wills, purser of the island steamer Morinda, on his arrival in Sydney. " The son of the chief on Nguna," Mr. Wills said, "ran wild with a rifle and killed four natives, then Mr. Milne. " When the old chief heard what he had done, he ordered one of the tribe to shoot his son, and the order was carried out."

Mr. Milne/Was killed on. April 27 and advice of his death was sent to the missions, office of the Presbyterian Church from Port Vila, capital of the New Hebrides. In his 60th year, he was born in New Guinea and has given a lifetime of service to the natives of Nguna. He had a hymn book printed in Ngunese in New Zealand last year. He leaves a grown-up family in the Dominion.
