NEW ACCORD
ROME AND BERLIN
CONCORDANT POLICY
military agreement REPORT. FROM PARIS DEFENCE OF FRONTIER By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received May fi, 7.50 p.m.) LONDON, May 5 The conversations between the German Foreign Minister, Baron von Neurath. and Signor [Mussolini and Count Ciano, the Italian Foreign Minister, resulted in the issue of a communique in Rome announcing that Italy and Germany will follow a concordant policy in all major questions, their interests and identity of aims being closely parallel. A message from Paris snvs diplomatic circles learn that Signor Mussolini and Baron von Neurath evolved an ltnloGerman military accord under which Germany will guarantee the Italian frontier at-the Brenner Pass. It is surmised that Italy will consent to the German plans for the union of Germany and Austria. The reports of a military accord are discounted' in a message from Rome, and it is contended that both Italy and Germany desire to retain liberty of action. *
