UNLUCKY TRAMCAR

TWICE IN COLLISION accident at parnell CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE • DONE After being damaged in a collision in Wellesley Street East on Saturday afternoon, a tramcar was involved in another collision on Parnell rise at 5.45 o'clock last night. The collision was with a Meadowbank tram, and the result was that the already slightly damaged car had its back cabin completely telescoped. There were no passengers in it. When the collision occurred the tram was stopped about 50 yards from the top of Parnell Rise, while the motorman was making adjustments. The car had been driven from the Gaunt Street depot, where it had been since the accident on Saturday, and was 011 its way to the Epsom depot. ' All the back framework of the front car was twisted, the controller was wrenched from its seating, and the switch-gear was dislodged: The C'her tram was little damaged. Traffic on the line was held up for about an hour. Attempts to haul the damaged car to the top of the rise were fruitless, and eventually it was backed to Stanley Street, manoeuvred over the points, and later returned to the depot in Gaunt Street.
