GRANTS IN BRITAIN COMMITMENTS OVER £10,000,000 (Received April 20, 0.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY. April 10 The Commissioner for Special Areas has promised further substantial grants to local authorities in special areas toward schemes'undertaken by them on the grounds of public health. The commissioner's total commitments at the end of March were £10,712,000, including the following:—Grants to assist industry, £3,058,000; for land settlement, etc., £3,182,000; schemes necessary on the grounds of public health. £3,286,000; other grants, £1,186,000.
