BABY DROWNED IN BATH

LEFT PLAYING ON FLOOR ! TRAGEDY AT ONEHUNGA With its head and shoulders under the surface of the water in its bath the 12-months-old son of Mrs. Nora Clark, 98 Trafalgar Street, Onehunga, was found dead on Saturday morning. After bathing the child at 8.30 a.m. Mrs. Clark left it to play on the floor. Shortly afterward two girls entered the house and discovered the baby. They immediately lifted it out of the bath and informed the mother. Dr. A. L. Noakes was sent for, but attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful. An inquest was opened later and adjourned until 2 p.m. to-morrow. The sides of the bath, which is oval in sha{>e, barely exceed a foot in height and it is assumed that the child overbalanced and fell in.
