BIRTHDAY PARTY
WHANGARE! CIVIC LEAGUE The 10th birthday party of the Whangarei Women's Civic League was held last week, when about 60 guests, representing all the other women's organisations in Whangarei, were present. The "Nok Nok Inn" hall in Cameron Street, where the function was held, was arranged in a charming manner with tables and chairs, and the beautiful floral decorations made the room bright and gay. The president of the league, Mrs. W. J. Dawson, welcomed the visitors, and Mrs. J. E. Holmes, the promoter of the league, gave an outline of its activities. Mrs. Dawson presented Mrs. Holmes with a sponge rubber cushion. During the evening a short programme of musical items and competitions was presented. Among those present nere: —Mesdames L. V.
