MOTOR STRIKERS
TEMPORARY PEACE EVACUATION OF PLANTS (Received March 26, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 25 A message from Lansing, Michigan, 6tates that the Governor, Mr. Frank Murphy, obtained an agreement with Mr,. John Lewis to order the immediate evacuation of eight Chrysler plants. Mr. Chrysler agreed not to resume production at the affected plants or to move, the machinery during the collective bargaining negotiations which are to follow. Six thousand sit-down strikers evacuated nine factories at Detroit, and the Chrysler strikers ratified the agreement. A- message from Warm Springs says President Roosevelt announces a series of 'conferences with leaders of Congress in regard to the sit-down strike epidemic as soon as he returns to Washington on Saturday. !' SIT-DOWN TACTICS PREVENTION IN CANADA i OTTAWA, March 24 "Sit-down strikes are outlawed in Canada," stated the Minister of Justice, Mr. Ernest Lapointe, in the Hobse of Commons. He added that the Federal Government would use its full powers to prevent their obtaining a foothold in the Dominion.
