AFTERNOON ENTERTAINMENT The champion swimmers visiting Auckland for tlio interprovincial contests to-night, .Misses I slay Purdie and "Winnie Dunn, of Otago, Patty Watts, of AVanganui, and Messrs. I'. JO. Alathicson, of Otago, anil R. Simon, of Manawatu, together with Miss Watts' mother, .Airs. M. C. Watts, were tendered an afternoon reception at St. Metiers yesterday hv the Eastern Suburbs and Waitemata Amateur Swimming anil Life-saving Clubs. They were welcomed hy Messrs. J i. Munro and A. J. Why to, president and chairman respectively of the Eastern Suburbs Club. Among the lady members present were Alesdames W. O. Stockley, an Auckland champion, and A. J'aper, and Misses E. Krause, N. Piteairn, L. Browning, D. Wilson, F.Skoebridge, S. Gilbert and B. Wilson.
