BOXER'S MISFORTUNE
AMPUTATION OF LEG INJURIES IN COLLISION [from our OWN" correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday A well-known amateur boxer and the present holder of the New Zealand light-heavyweight championship, Mr. Charles Farmer, aged 23, of Waharoa, suffered injuries, which necessitated the amputation of his right leg, when his motor-cycle was involved in aq®l>llision with a motor-car at Manawaru last night. Mr. Farmer, who is employed as a farm hand, was riding toward Manawaru and when about eight miles from To Aroha, his machine and the car, which was driven by Mr. E. A. Chelfings, of Manawaru, collided. Mr. Farmer was thrown heavily on to the road: After receiving attention at Manawaru by Dr. W. It. Lawrence, of 'J'e Aroha. Mr. Farmer was admitted to the Waikato Hospital, where his leg was amputated to-dav. His condition is regarded as serious.
