FISH HATCHERY
USE OF SOCIETY'S FUNDS A fear that the action of using funds obtained from shooting licences for financing the reconstruction of the hatchery at Puketurna might arouse some animosity between anglers and sportsmen interested in shooting was expressed by the chairman, Mr. F. K. McKenzie, at a meeting of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society last night, when a proposal to use moneys from the society's reserve fund for the alteration of the hatchery came before the meeting. It was recognised that the expenditure on shooting and fishing facilities should he in proportion to the revenue obtained from each sport, said Mr. T. S. Withers, but lie considered that as the re-establishment of fishing in the Auckland Province depended largely on the scheme afoot the use of the funds was justified. The motion was carried without dissent.
