LONDON COUNTY COUNCIL LABOUR PARTY LEADING 30 RESULTS OUTSTANDING (Received March 5, C.30 p.m.) LONDON, March * The London County Council election was held yesterday. The state of parties after 94 results had been declared was: — Labour . 54 [Municipal Reformers . . 40 Each side has gained four seats from the other. Consequently, there is no change so far. The remaining 30 results will be declared to-day. The state of parties in the former Council was: — Labour 69 Municipal Reformers . . 55 NUMEROUS CONTESTS CANDIDATES OF PARTIES (Received March 5, C.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, March \ The London County Council consists of 124 councillors elected by the ratepayers and 20 Aldermen elected by tho councillors. All the councillors retire automatically every three years. At the last election Labour gained a majority of the seats. With the exception. of four seats for the City of London, for which Municipal Reform candidates had been returned unopposed, all the seats were contested on this occasion. Labour was represented by 120 candidates, Municipal Reform by 116, Liberals by 18, Fascists by six and Independents by three.
