franklin club useful fields listed FOURTEEN horses in cup discussion of prospects SINKING FUND WELL FANCIED Useful fields are carded for tho Franklin Racing Club's meeting at Pukekohe to-day and there should bo gorao interesting contests. The chief event, the Franklin Cup, has drawn 14 horses and the issue appears very open. The course is in first-class order and unless there is rain the going should be fast. The win and place system of betting will bo in operation. Following are details of the fields with " s review of the prospects in each race by "Archer": — 12.0—PUNI HURDLES, Of £160; 1 mile and 5 fur. * st. lb. . st. lb. Hizh Quality 10 12 Benighted ..90 Curlew ... 10 0 Impellant . e 0 English Night I) 8 Swift Spear 9 0 Xlaßtfu King 9 7 Gay Cavalier 9 0 j High Quality finished second to Epilation at Te Aroha last Monday and a similar effort should make him difficult to beat. Curlew should do better thau in his recent races and tho improving English Night, who was third on the first day at Te Aroha, should be very dangerous. Mangu King and Benighted lack recent racing and Impellant is only a beginner. Swift Spear and Gay Cavalier have failed lately but are on the improve. Popular fancies may be HIGH QUALITY. ENGLISH NIGHT, CURLEW. „ 12,44—WAIUKU HACK HANDICAP, Of £130; 7 fur. and 22yds. st. lb. st. lb. ITangukaha . U 0 Thangilamba 7 7 Valmint ... 8 10 The Vamp . 7 7 Paiio Eobles . 810 Diacquedoon 7 7 Eacemosus . 8 4 Roselight ~77 Spearcourt ..82 Abbess of Valamito ... 8 1 Whitby ..77 Waitaka ... 7 11 Thurwind ..77 Poker Face , 7 9 The topweight Mangukaha has run tome creditable races in open company but Valmint will be making his first appearance for some months. Paso Robles may improve on recent efforts and Racemosus should find the class to his liking. Spearcourt should not be without a chance and Poker Face won at Matamata and was placed at Rotarua. Valamito and Waitaka failed at Te Aroha but they should do much r better here. Thangilamba is speedy and should be seen to more advantage than at Te Rapa, where she made a reappearance after a spell. Diacquedoon, who lias been working solidly, is not without prospects and the best of tho others may be Roselight and Tho Vamp. The main fancies may be RACEMOSUS, VALAMITO, WAITAKA. I.3O—BOMBAY HANDICAP, ' Of £130; 6 fur. st. lb. st. lb. Tidewaiter . 8 9 Speedfast . . 713 Tip Toes ..84 Aero Queen . 7 13 .Racing Lady 8 4 Lady Defoe . 713 Brioni .... 8 1 Seven Seas . 7 13 The Vamp .81 Frances Acre 713 Droll .... 8 0 Inquisitor . 713 Overdue ... 7 13 Royal Passage 7 13 Ilia Acrea . . 713 Backblock . 713 Hopalong . 713 School Song 713 Brilliant Acre 7 13 Tiny Star . . 7 13 The €raw for post positions may be an important factor as the class is very even. Tidewaiter, who has another engagement, Tip Toes, Racing Lady and Bnoni have all shown a little form and should have prospects. Droll's two fourths at the Takapuna meeting suggested that she is likely to win soon, while The Vamp, Brilliant Acre, Lady Defoe, Seven Seas, Inquisitor, Royal Passage and Backblock have all displayed sufficient promise to be worthy of consideration. Some who may be in demand are DROLL, - TIP TOES, RACING LADY. 2.I&—FRANKLIN CUP, Of £350 and gold cup valued at £SO; 1V» miles st. lb. st. lb. Singing Fund has previously raced well on the course and his prospects are bright. Tybalt- and Miss Lu have recent performances that entitle them to considerable respect and the latter will have the advantage of racing on her home '-track. Armacourt's efforts at Rotorua were good and she should be dangerous. Knight of Australia registered a win and a third at the Takapuna Meeting at Ellerslie and is nicely placed. Crooning is fit and should go well. Kelly is also in good heart and would require only to reproduce his track' form to be prominent. Gay Broney and Gay Talkie read best of the others, although Prince Colossus is < always likely to effect a surprise. Tho favourites may bo SINKING FUND, KNIGHT OF AUSTRALIA, ARMACOURT. 3.Q—TUAKAU STAKEB, Of £130; three-year-olds 8.7, two-year-olds _ 8.0; with a penalty of 51b for winners of flat races of the collective value of more than £IOO to the winner at time of starting; fillies allowed 31b; 5 fur. Land Girl shaped well at the Takapuna meeting and Aero King went very well «tcr getting badly left in a race nt the summer carnival at Ellerslie. Others Hho have shown promise are Feldberg Lapidarian. Solid support may £omo.for "ELANAGE, AERO KING, 'MAY SONG. 3.4S—DYNES FULTON MEMORIAL HANDICAP, £l °o and trophy valued at £3O; 0 fur. tt ol . st. lb. st. lb. Aroha to _be entitled to considerable respect. Ringshot is very fit and should a lot of beating if he reproduces his track form. Other possibilities arc Huntsman's Chorus, Gay Rebel and lidewaitor. The best supported may be VALRENT, RINGSHOT, GAY STREAK. 4.3O—PUKEKOHE HANDICAP, Of £200; 6 fur. Trav Bit . . Diatomous, who retains his speed, should be improved for his racing at Te Aroha. Kilonsa is a recent winner and very fit. The speedy Bcllkyrian will be racing on her homo courso and her turn is due. Tooley Street, who has freshed up since racing last, has been sprinting well and Rollicker is an improving three-year-old whoso future appears bright. To Hai has been working well enough to have a chance and others worthy of consideration may be Wahine Reihi, Lady Ruler and Mainland. Some who may bo fancied are TRAY BIT. BELLKYRTAN, ROLLICKER. S.IS—BUCKLAND HACK HANDICAP, Of £130; 6 fur. st. lb. st. lb. Paso Robles should not bo without a chance and Little Artist should bo prominent if he repeats his Te Rapa form. Waitaka, if reserved, should make a forward showing, and others who should add interest to the contest are Fox Moth, who shaped well at Te Aroha, Gav Rebel, High Star, Haputale and Thangilamba. The favourites maj' be. JAN RTDD, STRATHIRE, HAPUTALE. RIDING ENGAGEMENTS LIST OF JOCKEYS* MOUNTS Riding engagements for the Franklin Racing Club's meeting at Pukekohe today aro as follows; — H. ELLERSLIE TRAINING SEVEN SEAS SPRINTS SMARTLY The No. 3 grass, which provided good going, was available for galloping at Ellerslie yesterday, but there was not a great deal of fast work, the majority of the horses being restricted to steady pacing on the sand and the tan. On the grass, Kilonsa (Wiggins) covered half a mile in 50s. It was her first sprint since winning on the second day at Te Aroha and she finished full of running. Kilonsa is to contest the Pukekohe Handicap to-day and her prospects appear bright. Seven Seas (Gilchrist) displayed speed over three furlongs in 375. He carried only a light weight but was running on strongly at the end and should be a prospect in approaching novice events. Tybalt (Gilchrist) sprinted three furlongs in 38s. He came through his recent racing in good style and although he failed to run up to expectations on the second day at Te Aroha he should not be disgraced in the Franklin Cup. Elanage (Wiggins) and Tidewaiter (Green) ran three furlongs in 37 2-ss. Kelly (Gilchrist) covered three furlongs in 38 2-ss. He was going smoothly throughout and could liave bettered that time. PROOF OF OWNERSHIP INQUIRY OVER QUEEN OF SONG [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Friday The question of the ownership of Queen of Song, which was raised during the recent Dunedin Cup meeting, was further considered by the committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club, when it was unanimously resolved: "That documents inspected by the committee, including statutory declarations, show that Queen of Song is owned solely by P.
