Wil- V liams had only just time to awaken his wife and carry his children to safety before the house in which they were ing in Korokipo Road, near Taradale, burst into flames. The insurances on the house total £275. while the contents were covered for a small amount only. OUTBREAK IN BAKERY SLIGHT DAMAGE CAUSED A fire slightly damaged a portion of the back of the premises of Stormont's, Limited, New North Road, Kingsland,* at about 10.30 last night. Within a few minutes of the outbreak machines from the Mount Albert and Mount Eden Fire Brigades arrived. Entrance had to be made throueh a back window and the officer in charee, Mr. C. Maguire, cut his hand in this operation. FARMHOUSE DESTROYED OCCUPANTS' HURRIED EXIT [by telegraph —owx correspondent] MORRINSVILLE, Thursday A six-roomed farmhouse at Peria, Matamata, owned by Mr. S. Wright, of Matamata, and occupied by .Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Wright and family, was totally destroyed by fire early this morning. The occupants had only time to leave the premises before the enveloped the whole building. Crene. of Thkaliue, were milking their herd or cows this morning they noticed that the engine end of the shed was on fire. Mr. Crene immediately tried to put out the flames, but he was unsuccessful, as they had gained a hold. The shed was burned to t"« ground. The cows were released from the shed and yard bv Mrs. Crene. Although the shed, which was ticallv new and contained a new rousing plant and machinery, was the amount will fall far short of value of the building and contents, house.
