, .CLUB'S SEASON OPENED The Northern Contract Bridge Club opened its 1937 season with a duplicate pairs novelty tournament, special hands being prepared by the president, Dr. B. Mackenzie. Twenty-six pairs participated, and an amusing and instructive evening was spent. The most successful players were: —North-South: Mr. and Mrs. 11. K. Wvlie, plus 5050; Mrs. A. E. Heighway and Mrs. C. 1). Warren, plus 4140; Mr. C. Bruce-Smith and Mr. J. Yock, plus 3300. East-West: Mr, C. V. Cavendish and Mr. N. Watson, plus 6550; Mr. W. B. Colbeck and Mr. A. J. Friedlander, plus 5030; Mrs. Harvey and Mrs. Xock, plus ' 4070. A match between teams of four chosen by the president and vice president will be played next Monday. Officers of the club for 1937 have been elected as follows: —President, Dr. B. Mackenzie; vice-president, Mr. W. B. Colbeck; honorary secretary, Mr. C. N. Tucker; honorary treasurer, Mr. S. Mann; honorary auditor, Mr. E. Stratum; committee, Mrs. A. E. Heighway, Miss F. Hall, Messrs. C. Bruce-Smith, C. L. Eastgate and R. K. Wylie.
