SET FIRE TO HOUSE
MAN FOUND GUILTY OF ARSON RECOMENDATION TO MERCY [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION] "WANGANUI, Thursday The trial of Paul Nodwell, aged 57, single, on a charge of wilfully setting fire to his dwelling house, thereby committing the crime of arson, was con'cluded in the Supreme Court to-day. The hearing lasted three and a-half days, a second trial being ordered when the first was three-parts completed, on account of a brother of accused being "seen • talking to a juryman. ■ Counsel- for Nodwell, Mr. Willis, made an address lasting an hour and 40 minutes. - The jury was absent two and akpiarter hours, including an hour for lunch, and in delivering a verdict of guilty, made a strong recommendation to■ merev on account of prisoner's state of health'. Nodwell was remanded for sentence. '
