AWARDS IN SOLO CLASSES [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] , KELSON, Thursday At tlie band contest first and third places in the B flat cornet championship went to Woolston players. The judge, Mr. E. P. Kerry, again criticised the thin tone of the cornets, although there were sonio wonderfully artistic performances. Results are as follows: — B Flat Cornet *(2-1 entries). —R. Simpson (Woolston Brass), 89, 1; Fred Bowes (Timaru Municipal), 81, 2; W. Stevenson, 78, 3. Tenor Horn Solo (19 entries). —F. Ormrod (Port Nicholson Silver), S9, 1: R. Francis (St. Kildg), 88, 2; L. Scrivener (Port Nicholson Silver), 87. 3. Bass Trombone Solo.—L. Williscombe (Dannevirke Municipal), 88, 1; B. Redmond (St. Joseph Orphanage). SO, 2.
