OVERSEAS VISITORS

INCREASE IN DECEMBER ARRIVALS AT AUCKLAND More than double the number of passengers from overseas arrived in Auckland in December, compared with the totals for December, 1935, according to a report presented by the traffic manager, Mr. W. R. Golden, at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board yesterday. The total for last December was 3095 passengers, against 1415 in December, 1935. Departures totalled 2034, an increase of 878. Passengers arrived from various countries, as follows: —Australia, 2704; Pacific Islands, 142; Canada and the United States, 126; United Kingdom, 96; Colombo, 5; Port Said, 2; Naples, 3; Singapore, 12; Capetown, 5.
