WARM TO MODERATE
RAIN DEVELOPING IN SOUTH The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, were as follows: —An anti-cyclone of moderate intensity coverii the Dominion, while a shallow depression is advancing across the Tasinan Sea. Pressure has again risen over south-eastern Australia. The forecast is for light to moderate northerly winds predominating about and south of Cook Strait, but variable ami increasing somewhat elsewhere, but northerlies gradually prevailing. A change to southerlies will be advancing over the South Island by to-morrow. Seas slight to moderate but risirtq; in Foveaux Strait and later in the Cook Strait area. Eastern Tasrnan Sea: Light to moderate northerly winds prevailing and freshening somewhat, but a change to southerlies is advancing from the west; seas rather vough in places, but mainly slight to moderate. The weather is likely to be fine generally at first, but clouding over .shortly in the- western and southern portions of the South Island and scattered but mainly light rains developing later. Cloud and isolated rains nre nrobahle in parts of the eastern districts of the South Island. Temperatures are likely to be warm to moderate. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST FAIR TO FIXE AND WARM The Government, meteorologist issued to the Hkk.vi.d last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province;— Light to moderate and variable winds, with northerlies shortly predominating. The weather is likely to be fair to line and warm. Seas slight to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Fine, but hazy weather prevailed in Auckland yesterday. There was a moderate to fresh south-easterly wind, which changed to the north-east in the afternoon. Conditions were warm and the temperature at 4 p.m. was 73 degrees. The barometer showed a rising tendency during the day and became steady at, 30.20 in. Barometer, midnight, steady 30.25 in. Midnight, Monday . . . . 30.10 in. Wellington.—The day was brilliantly fine and clear with a light northerly wind. The maximum temperature was 68 degrees. Christchurcli. —Yesterday was sunny and clear, with a fresh east-north-east breeze in the morning, changing to a strong easterly in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 62.!> degrees. The barometer, after falling slightly, was steady at 30.05 in. Dunedin. —The sun shone brightly yesterday and there was a slight breeze from the north-east.
