MR. LANGSTONE'S TOUR

DEPUTATIONS IN NORTH [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] KAIKOHE, Tuesday The activities of the Minister of Lands, the Hon. F. Langstone, to-day consisted of inspections and the receiving of deputations in portions of the Whangaroa and Bay of Islands Counties. A visit to the Puketi Forest, containing 16,000 acres, was made this morning, following which the Minister made a thorough inspection of the picturesque Kerikcri settlement, where he viewed the many citrus plantations. Mr. Langstone was very impressed with the rapid . growth of the settlement. The party was also shown through the passion fruit products factory. The Minister received deputations at Kaikohe last evening. The non-payment of rates by natives and the lack of supervision over natives on contract work, in addition to the idle spending of the money of Maoris, were the chief subjects under discussion.
