RADIO TEACHING
HEADMASTER'S PLAN
LATE OPENING OF SCHOOLS SAVING TIME FOR PUPILS [Hv TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] GERALDINE, Friday So that pupils will not need to lose time because of the postponement of the reopening of schools, the headmaster of the Geraldine District High School, Mr. J. J. McGuigan, is seeking the permission of the Minister in charge of Broadcasting, Mr. Savage, to establish radio classes for senior pupils at Goraldine.
Experiments made during last weekly Mr. W. H. Jackson, senior member of the secondary school staff at Geraldine, indicated that it would be quite easy to make contact with pupils through the amateur station 313 L Geraldine, which he owns and operates. The school would be limited in its early stages to matriculation class of seven pupils, but after it had been given a trial might be extended to teach other pupils in the secondary department, l'he teachers in charge of various subjects would each broadcast so that classes would go on practically as if conditions were normal, lo make the scheme more effective questions would be set and answered by post and papeis discussed and corrected by radio. Other amateur radio enthusiasts at Geraldine are keenly interested in the scheme, which they consider might nell be extended if succssful.
