WEDDING
FLETCHER—PARKES The marriage was celebrated on December 28 at the Horsham Downs Hall, of Irene Phyllis, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Parkes, Horsham Downs, to Allan Edward, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Fletcher, of Marton. The Rev. G. E. Brown, of Hamilton. officiated.
The bride looked charming as she entered the hall on the arm of her father, wearing a gown of ivory satin with au embroidered tulle veil falling in a long train and arranged on the head with a coronet of pleated tulle and orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of Madonna lilies and roses. The bridesmaid, Miss Edith Parkes, sister of the bride, wore a frock of honey-gold silk voile with a hat and bouquet to tone. Two little twin sisters of the bride. Ethel aiul Elsie, wore floral hailstone muslin frocks with organdie hats to tone. They carried the bride's train. The bridegroom was attended by a cousin of the bride, Mr. W . B. I arkes, of Mart on.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, Horsham Downs, where the bride's mother received the guests, wearing a navy ensemble with a na\\ hat. She carried a bouquet of dark red carnatftms. The bridegroom's mother wore a navy and floral velvet fiock with a navy hat. She also carried a bouquet of red carnations. The bride and bridegroom left later for Marton, where they will spend some time before going on to their future home at Varnassus, Christchurch.
