GAOL CHEFS' PROBLEM
[FROM OUll OWN 00RitKSl'0NDF.NT] BRISBANE, .Tan. 0 King George's birthday, following closely as it did upon his accession, made extra work for the chefs in tlie Queensland gaols, who had had no opportunity to prepare for the special meals which are customarily served to prisoners 011 the King's Birthday. The bill of fare for the day, which was observed as a holiday in the gaols, showed steak or sausages, with chip potatoes for breakfast, and roast meat, pumpkins and potatoes, and plum duffs for dinner. To cook the puddings and make the sauce the prison cooks had to remain up all the previous night.
