ALLEGATION OF THEFT PROSECUTION AT NELSON ■[BY TELEGRAPH rRESS association] NELSON, Saturday A charge of theft as a servant was preferred against Robert Brownlie in the Nelson Police Court to-day, the amount named in the charge being £6 18s, money paid in as general rates to the Tahunanui Town Board. Detective F. Havhurst, in asking for a remand until January 22, said further charges were pending, and a considerable number of inquiries had to be made.

A remand was granted, bail being allowed in £IOO, with one surety of a like amount.
