DISCUSSION AT WHAKATANE NEW ENGINE PROPOSED [by telegraph —OWN correspondent] WHAKATANE, Saturday The newly-appointed W hakatane Fire Board met last night to discuss the value of the plant and equipment being taken over from the Borough Council. Mr. Cutler, on behalf of the local committee, said the brigade would be satisfied to carry on with the pre
sent premises, but certain alterations would l>e necessary to make the building suitable. On the motion of the chairman. Mr. H. Clay, it was decided to apply to the Local Government Loans Board for permission to raise a loan of £?00 for the purchase of a new fire engine.
