TEST OF DEFENCES LAND, AIR AND SEA PENDING MANOEUVRES IMPOSING PROGRAMME By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received January 14, 7.15 p.m.) SINGAPORE, Jan. 13 Combined manoeuvres are to be held early in February in order to test the defences bv land, air and ■sea of the Singapore fortress, and units which are to participate are beginning to arrive. The first and Second Punjabis from Taiping have been transported] to the island of Blakan Mati, which is one of the king-pins of the gun , defences, and a Malay regiment from! Port Dickson is under canvas at ■ Changi, Twenty-five warships from the China j squadron are expected shortly. The. Royal Air Force is being reinforced by j five squadrons from India and Irak. The manoeuvres are expected to con- j stitutc the largest sham fight ever I carried out in the Far .Last, lhey will J last several days and 7000 men will! take part.
