A FURTHER INCREASE PROGRESS OF NEW CROPS [BY TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT] &JSEORNE, Thursday Maize prices continue to increase. Gisborno holders arc asking from 6s 0(1 to 6s 9d for tho small supplies loft, while Auckland rates have advanced 2d since last week, making the rate "s lid ex store. Shipments from Gisborne to* Auckland recently have been negligible, most .of the maize coming in from the country being for purely local consumption. Outside markets are depending almost solely on grain imported from Java. The limit of maize prices has been reached, according to views expressed in Gisborno. Tho market should remain firm during the next few months but values should easo with the arrival of the new season's Java maize and the marketing of the new season's wheat, which is expected to be cheaper than present levels.. The new. crops in the Gisborne district are looking very ivell generally, although they are in need of sunshine. If suitable weather prevails during the next few months the crop should ho highly successful.
